MLA Issues Call to Action for Public Libraries
The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) has presented England’s public libraries with five major challenges to be met over the next three years.

Cautious welcome for moves to improve public library procurement
CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals has welcomed the "swift and positive" response by the Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) and the Museums, Libraries & Archives Council (MLA) to the report by consultants PKF 'Public Libraries: Efficiency and Stock Supply Chain Review'. However CILIP also points out that little in the PKF report is new, and questions as "simplistic" some of its conclusions.

The author and publishers of 'The Da Vinci Code' have won a court ruling confirming that the bestseller did not infringe the copyrights of earlier books published by rival author Lewis Perdue.
Ofcom deregulates RFID in the UK
Ofcom has said that it would be making radio spectrum available for use by Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) equipment and that those using the new technology would not need a wireless telegraphy licence.
